Meet our Chartered Clubs

Empower Your Voice Through Charter Clubs!

Active participation in our democracy is essential to creating a just and equitable society. Our chartered clubs serve as political hubs where passionate individuals can come together to advocate for the values and principles of the Democratic Party, including social justice, equality, and community engagement.

Joining a local club not only allows you to deepen your understanding of important political issues but also enables you to collaborate with fellow members to drive meaningful change in your community. Through grassroots organizing, advocacy efforts, and educational initiatives, our clubs empower individuals to make their voices heard and contribute to a more inclusive political landscape.

By participating in a chartered club, you’re not just joining a group; you’re becoming part of a movement that values compassion, integrity, and the belief that every individual deserves a voice. Together, we can work toward a brighter future where the principles of democracy thrive and benefit everyone.

Explore our clubs, connect with like-minded individuals, and take an active role in shaping the future of our community today!

About DWK

In 1995, several women friends fell into deep conversation about what was happening, and not happening, in politics… and it was their perception that they did not see an effective presence of the Democratic Party in Kern County. They decided that this was a situation that needed changing and they would work to change it!  This was the beginning of the organization originally named the Democratic Women of South San Joaquin Valley, now officially called the Democratic Women of Kern.

Since that time, this organization has developed a core group of committed women, (and men) who participate in activities that support the local Democratic Party and its principles.  DWK works in cooperation with the Kern County Democratic Central Committee, sponsors events to highlight local Democratic candidates and assists wherever they can by working to register voters, provide phone banking, walking and working for positive change in our community. We continue to provide a platform where guest speakers address relevant issues of the current political climate and where we can come together as Democrats and as women to educate and support each other. We celebrate over 20 years of political activism and we are still fighting the good fight.

We invite you to join us.  https://democraticwomenofkern.org/

About TMDC

Tehachapi Mountain Democratic Club is the oldest club still around in Kern County today.  Located in the heart of the Tehachapi Mountains, Thurm and Phyllis Belcher started the club with meetings in their living room back in 1989.  The Belcher's along with a small group of their friends have kept the club going over the years.  Now, TMDC has grown more than 5 times in size with almost 200 club members and is not just a political based club but also a community oriented club.  TMDC has monthly meetings with guest speakers who speak on various topics from political, to local community issues.  To find out more information, visit their website at TehachapiDemocrats.com and learn more.
